Adult Day Care would be so good for my parents however they are on a fixed
income. How can they afford this service?
Pleasant Valley is non-profit organization and we participate in a variety of grants
that may not be offered by other adult day care centers.
Our staff will be happy to discuss funding options with you and your loved one.
Financial issues should never be an obstacle for caregivers in making such an
important decision.

I know adult day care would be good for my mom however I'm not
sure if she will be willing to attend. What should I do?
Most clients have admitted that they did not want to attend adult
day care before they started the program. Fear and apprehension are
common to anyone who is faced with beginning in a new setting where
they do not know anyone.
At Pleasant Valley, we encourage the caregiver
to bring in their loved one in for a tour so they can see the program
for themselves. Before the first day, the Executive Director makes
a home visit which has helped many of our clients prepare for their first day.
If after a few discussions with the client the individual still does
not seem enthusiastic about starting the program don't worry,
that is quite normal. It is not advisable for the caregiver
to persistently attempt to convince the client that they are
going to like it. Instead, we find that the best approach has been for the
family to complete the application and bring the client in on the first day.
It's the responsibility of the staff here at Pleasant Valley to help
that individual make friends have a good time, and ultimately want to
return after the first day.
How do I know which adult day day care center will be right for
my Dad?
Each adult day care center is very different. Some centers specialize in caring for specific cultural and ethnic groups.
There are both social programs and medical programs which in clude the Full Time Services of a Registered Nurse.
The best advice is to visit a center during program hours.
See for yourself how the staff interacts with the clients.
Ask to speak with any of the clients or caregivers directly.
After your loved one is enrolled ask to visit about a week
later to see how things are going.
At Pleasant Valley, we welcome and encourage continued family involvement
